Wow I lied, I didn't get involved more on here. Oh well. The past few months have been pretty cool though, otehr than the recent deaths of two more of our classmates....sigh....

But I submitted a new piece, do you all still even care anymore?

So I made many resolutions this year, one of them is to make more art and get more involved here on DA. My account literally has just sat here for months, I haven't commented anyone, or anything like that. I've been sucking up to MySpace real bad too.I would really like to get back into the whole DA world and get back to appreciating what makes us great, our Art!

The past few months have just been stressful. Band has been more haywire this year in it's scheduling, school hasn't been very easy, and I'm working a part-time job after school and on weekends, making time for friends and family comes hard, and to top it all off, I have three instruments I have to keep practicing to keep my skill at it. So the probability of getting some artwork done....slim.

But next semester things shouldn't be so bad. I have easier classes, you know, like sleep through them and get an A classes, in which I can draw, I'll have more time after school to work on my art, and when graduation rolls around in May, I'm going to get a new Dell laptop with a Hi-def screen, bundled with a all in one print fax scan copy thing, wireless mouse and keyboard, and dual monitor support hi def graphics card. That should boost the speed and productivity of my art since it will be a faster machine, and hopefully I will have two screens instead of one to maximize my cramped computer screen work area....and make more room for all my desktop icons......

But there is good new on the horizon, and I cant wait for it.

Im glad to finally be back on DA after so many months of inactivity

Yeah I haven't around much, but I have been real busy with, work, school, band, and all that stuff. I'm also in the process of cleaning up the house from where were gonna move after I graduate...so yeah, my internet gets disconnected easily because of all the commotion. This also means Dad's Laptop that I use to scan my stuf is lost in the midst of a lot of crap...so yeah, maybe I'll find it? I Promise that I will post some stuff soon....if you guys still even care

Cheated...

Sorry I haven't been on lately...actually in a few months..I've just been real uninspired as far as any of my art is coming along. I think I have artist's block...if there is such a thing.

Anywho for the cheated part.

Nov 3rd was our last state championship in our band. We finished 3rd, and missed second by only a fraction of a point...but I just have to wonder why the reigning champ has had THE SAME SHOW for three years...maybe even four. That gives them 48 possible months to work and perfect a show...whereas we and several other bands only get about 3 and a half months....sure our band reuses sets and drills...but we don't play the same music in the shows every year...

I think we have lost sight of what a real marching band is supposed to be. MARCHING AND PLAYING. Not marching to the beat of thousands of dollars worth of synthesizers, keyboards, and huge speakers....or standing still, kneeling, or marking time while your playing...no not at all. Marching band is pure and simple horns, pit, and drumline...all marching and playing within the framework of time...all in perfect sychronization and harmony

I'm proud to be in a band with a director and super dedicated staff that cherishes what a real marching band should be, and they mold us into that kind of band....

I watched some college bands a few days back and I've noticed a lot of bands are starting to turn to fancy synthesizer stuff..and their hornline only plays a fraction of the show....America has lost it's vision of a true marching band...it's just an old fad thats gone out of style...

The reigning champ also stole one of our drumlines' cadences...written by one of our very own drumline members...can you say copyright infringement? I believe so...Our cadence was in a tangible form...you could hear it!

Maybe I'm just overreacting....I dunno, I cant sleep over this...it lingers in my mind all day long...sometimes just thinking about it sends me into uncontrolled fits of rage and hate....But one of my good friend says this to me a lot....

"We were 3rd in state, but 1st in our hearts because it's the placing of our hearts that comes before the placing of our band..."

...and it really helps
